SEPPES High Speed Doors for Battery Manufacturing Plants

SEPPES High Speed Doors for a Canadian Battery Manufacturing Plants

SEPPES supplied two automatic flexible high speed door for a battery manufacturing plant in Canada. The automatic PVC doors were installed on opposite sides of a bulk-bag unloading station, creating a movable equipment boundary around the powder-handling process. Each reported opening measured W1916 × H1818 mm.

The project used an inverted mounting arrangement to fit the station structure. Stainless steel frames with a baked finish and stainless steel control boxes were coordinated with the customer’s equipment configuration. During bag opening, the closed doors help limit open paths around the process and reduce the need for personnel to remain directly beside the active unloading point.

Why Battery Powder Unloading Needed a Door Enclosure

The earlier process used an overhead crane to hold a bulk bag while personnel manually opened and emptied it. The new station automated the bag-opening step, but automation alone did not remove the need to define a boundary around the active equipment and powder transfer area.

One high speed door was installed at each side of the station. When closed, the two doors create a clearer separation between the automated process and nearby personnel. When access is required, the flexible curtains can open vertically without occupying a swing area around the compact equipment enclosure.

Workplace dust control depends on the whole process. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety explains that industrial ventilation is used to control airborne contaminants. The doors support enclosure, but they do not replace extraction, equipment sealing, housekeeping, exposure assessment, or the plant’s approved safety procedures.

How high speed automatic door Support Battery Manufacturing Equipment?

Two-Sided Equipment Separation

Installing one door at each side establishes a controlled access boundary across the station rather than leaving one side open. The door sequence should be coordinated with the equipment cycle so the station reaches the required enclosed condition before powder handling begins.

Compact Inverted Installation

The inverted PVC arrangement was selected around the customer’s station structure. Mounting orientation, drive location, cable route, maintenance access, and curtain travel must be reviewed against the final machine drawing for every similar project.

Fast Movable Access

The automatic high speed automatic rollup doors can clear the access points when loading, inspection, or maintenance is permitted and return to the closed position for the relevant process step. Rapid movement helps reduce unnecessary open time, but the exact speed and timing remain configuration-specific.

Stainless Steel Components

The reported project used stainless steel frames with a baked finish and stainless steel control boxes. This was a customer-specific equipment configuration; the required grade, surface finish, cleanability, grounding, and corrosion resistance should be confirmed for each battery process.

Project Configuration

Requirement Installed configuration Operational purpose
Enclose both station sides Two inverted PVC high speed doors Creates a defined boundary around the unloading process
Match compact equipment openings W1916 × H1818 mm per door Fits the machine access points without unnecessary oversizing
Coordinate with metal equipment Stainless steel frame with baked finish Matches the specified station construction
Use a durable control enclosure Stainless steel control box Provides a consistent enclosure for the project controls
Permit controlled process access Flexible vertically opening curtain Supports loading and access between approved process stages

Example Operating Sequence

1. Position the Bulk Bag

An overhead crane lifts and positions the bag inside the automatic unloading station according to the customer’s material-handling procedure.

2. Establish the Equipment Boundary

The two high speed doors for the battery manufacturing plantclose to separate the active powder-handling zone from surrounding personnel areas.

3. Run the Automated Bag-Opening Process

The station opens and unloads the bag. Extraction, dust collection, machine guarding, and process controls operate according to the facility’s engineered design.

4. Confirm a Safe Access Condition

Before either door opens, the control system should confirm the required machine state, process completion, and permission conditions defined by the equipment builder.

5. Open for the Next Approved Task

The door clears the access point for loading, inspection, cleaning, or maintenance only when the site procedure permits entry.

Engineering Information Required for Similar Projects

Before selecting high speed doors for battery manufacturing plants, confirm:

– Equipment drawing and door mounting orientation.
– Clear opening and maximum material envelope.
– Powder type and process hazard assessment.
– Dust extraction and ventilation arrangement.
– Required enclosure pressure or airflow direction.
– Door position within the equipment safety boundary.
– PLC commands, status signals, and interlock sequence.
– Safe state following a fault or power interruption.
– Frame material, finish, grounding, and cleaning method.
– Safety sensors, emergency stop, maintenance isolation, and commissioning tests.
